FAQs

Some of the frequently asked questions we receive include:

  • Do you cover my area?

  • Are glass balconies safe?

  • How do I take care of my new gates?

  • Do you create bespoke products?

  • Do you install security systems?

Do you cover my area?

As a locally based metal and steel fabrication company, we have been operating out of our workshop in Newhaven for over 20 years. This means we are perfectly placed to offer our structural beams, staircases and other bespoke services to customers throughout East and West Sussex. So, if you live in Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, Hove, Lewes, Peacehaven, Saltdean, Shoreham, Uckfield, Worthing or the neighbouring villages, then our balcony and fire escape installers cover your area.

Are glass balconies safe?

Thanks to using reinforced or toughened glass panels that comply with the relevant British Standards, any glass balcony installations we carry out for customers around Eastbourne are perfectly safe. Even though they are made from glass, they are practically as strong and as durable as traditional wrought iron balconies. We also use glass panels as an alternative to metal balustrades for stairwells.

How do I maintain my new gates?

At G W Ironworks, we can galvanise metal gates and balustrades during the manufacturing process. This entails coating iron or steel fabrications with a layer of zinc to protect against corrosion, wear and tear and weather damage. We find this is the best way to keep your gates looking at their best for longer. We also offer a powder-coated finish to deliver a superior, hard-wearing paint job than regular paint.

Do you create bespoke products?

Although we often perform standard installations for staircases, glass balconies, metal balustrades and pedestrian access gates, a large portion of our work is bespoke. After all, no two properties are the same. For example, our fire escape installers create unique fire exit staircases on hard-to-access sites to optimise the available space. Likewise, when crafting metal gates for driveways and metal staircases or balustrades for homes in and around Eastbourne, our metal staircase manufacturers can work to whatever design ideas you may have in mind. And we can produce structural beams to suit any building project. Naturally, we also offer a wide variety of stock options for you to choose from, which more than satisfy the needs of most of our customers.

Furthermore, our steel fabrication experts take great pleasure in tackling one-off projects, where they can truly showcase their skills.

Do you install security systems?

We don’t handle burglar alarms or CCTV camera units. However, we provide security gates, fencing, cages and lockups to help protect domestic, commercial and industrial properties from intruders. Whether for a car park, hotel, factory, school or hospital, we produce a variety of different products to prevent unauthorised access.

Call our steel fabrication specialists and fire escape installers on 01273 514 448 or 07976 875 021 to discuss metal gates, glass balconies and metal balustrades in Eastbourne.
